I like my desk. it's freaking awesome compared to the piece of crap I used to sit on. It was such a horrid setup I think I blanked it from my memory instantly and now I have no clue what is going on or what it used to look like.

This is my desk from back a bit. it's set into a built in wardrobe with shelves and a small cupboard above it.

The cable management system is just a bunch of cable ties and a few cable nail thingos. My mousemat is a "razor mantis" speed edition. I didn't even notice when I bought it, but the control edition is way nicer. and a g15 GAMING keyboard, not this g15 refresh crap.

This is my amp, it's on a sweet arm. pivotelli to be exact. can you guess where it came from?

Case Mod

THE-CASE-MOD

So I've done an awesome (pretty damned awesome at least) case mod. It's in an old high voltage power supply case. And DAMN it's heavy (about 16kg). Maybe I over-reacted at how heavy it was (same as a bag of cement) and it is just alot sharper than it is heavy...

If you're looking at the pictures. (not sure if I can put them in here... lame blog page) you can see the base is as thick as 2 50c coins stacked ontop of each other. now that's pretty thick for a sheet of steel if you're talking about computer cases. Although the top makes up for it's weight by being slightly less heavy. The front is also an aluminium sheet with lots of dials and knobs in it, for controlling high voltages I guess.

Up front and center is the Beckman logo. Adds alot to the case I reckon. A bit of colour to the dull gray. Each of these dials rotates a full turn and has 1000 settings. each rotation is 100, and there are 10 of them in total, they also feature a lock to hold them nice and tight.

The on/off switch functions as the power switch. The "power on used to be a globe to provide indication that the unit was running, now it functions as a reset switch hole. fuse is located inside the fuse hole and, although not plugged into anything, still would work as a fuse.

This one has nothing attached to it, so nothing is going to move. I don't think my computer produces a draw or output measurable in KV either, so it would be fairly unexciting to wach even if it did work.

H.V. POWER SUPPLY, SERIAL NUMBER: 10. This speaks for itself. 10th puppy ever produced. excellent quality handmade case.

A top shot. This shows the awesomeness of the case IMO.

I had to equip this puppy with side USB and firewire. So I modded it's rear bracket thingo to screw into the side. This provided one problem with the top being tethered to the motherboard and bottom, but there is enough room to remove the 2 plugs when the top is semi-open.

The motherboard is mounted on a smallish piece of wood, making it slightly easier to do everything in the case, considering what the base is made of.

2x 50c coins, or should I say "double silver pineapples". The base is steel, and heavy.

Computer stats:

Nothing state of the art in this puppy.

no CD-ROM, no Floppy, not much else. I did the installation over the network with a boot CD

80gb seagate 7200rpm 8mb cache. something like that, awesome at being a HDD.

8IG-1000 pro (rev 1) It was an awesome motherboard in it's time, onboard video and everything.

some POS 250W LITEON PSU.

2.6ghz intel with HT & some shitty l2cache but it does the job.

Here is me running the PC under my table... I have no room anywhere else that has a monitor.

You may note the retro microsoft media PC (PS/2 LOL) and the old-school trackball, probably sent more people to hospital than avien influenza.

I will post a pic of it running when I get it plugged back in. was a right pain in the butt just before and I could bother to get the network working (DHCP didn't work as well as I had hoped, and that is as far as I could have been bothered).

THIS IS MY BLOG.

I’m going to write about all the shit that has happened over the last few months. It’s all been too fast I reckon. University, IBM and Myself.

I’ve been going to summer school for a little over 2 months now. 5 days a week. The workload hasn’t been too crazy as I had imagined. Even though there is quite a lot of work that needs to be done I’ve been cruising along at a decent pace keeping up with everything.

I got accepted into a traineeship with IBM. I’m on a decent starting wage while learning everything and I’ve got the prospects of much more if I succeed at this. The traineeship involves gaining a ‘bachelor of information technology in mainframe computing’ which is a specialised version of the bachelor of IT, and I suppose it’s recognized differently when seeking a position with a big computer.

I have my motor bike learner’s permit. This is probably the most fantastic thing ever, and at the exact same time probably not. I have the choice of riding my mother’s bike (a gs500f) or mine, a tiny little Yamaha sr-250.

You can probably imagine which one is more fun to ride.

I don’t really have anything to report on the lady dilemma, except that someone should remind everyone that computers are probably not linked to breast/ovarian cancer, and are probably quite safe for chicks to be around. I’m not saying that they’re not dangerous. I’m just saying that there should be a wider female base in computing!

I’m 20 now. And I don’t feel any older. This probably doesn’t come to any of you as a surprise but not being a teenager anymore isn’t bad. My birthday party was a huge success and I wish more of you would have turned up! The turnout was quite lame, being limited to my brothers, sister, mother, mother 2, father and my brothers g/f.

I suppose that’s it. If you know a single, attractive, fun loving, funny, bright young ladies please don’t hesitate to inform me of your find! I’m gonna post some pics if possible of my bike and all kindsa shit. GL HF KA DD. TTYL. Also, lots of stuff I want to say but I’m not quite sure of the words. So if I’m not talking to you it’s not because I don’t like you or want to, it’s because I’m probably a fraidy cat or too lame.

P.S. It has come to my attention that I haven't written in my blog since july or june (I looked a minute ago but I can't remember). so this is gonna be a short one compared to my last blog too. hopefully I can get it all going again, finally leaving conventional school and joining the workforce.

blog much

I haven't blogged in freaking ages, and when I did it was only once. I can't remember but the thing I was trying to get across was a story about myself, who I am and what I like. I guess. So here goes, i'm going to blog about wtf is happening with my life 'n shit.

1st, most important point is:

I have quit world of warcraft. I am not sure if this is gonna last long, but i've decided that there are more important things in my life than pwning noobs.

I am going alright at school, which is a positive. I just have a few more assignments and exams to do, then i'm home free. Not sure what's going to be out there for me after school, but w/e it is, I think i'm going to enjoy it.

Trouble on the girl front, or more so, no trouble on the girl front. I have a girl I like, but for reasons unknown to me, I am finding myself torn between liking her and not. Mainly due to the fact that I am not sure if I like her because she's a gurl, or if I like her because I like her. I guess i'll procrastinate my arse off until it's too late. Then i'll be happy and sad.

My car is being a bitch, like always. This time it's making a god-awful noise using it's engine and some kinda big belt thing. not the best problem IMO but it could be worse.

On MSN I have "un-deleted" and "un-blocked" everyone who was on my list, maybe i'll generate some hate from doing this, but I have come to realise that if I dont want to talk to someone then I can just as easily ignore them without it, and now if they have something to say then it's welcomed.

shit, i've got so much to do. I now have time to blog. wow is so evil, yet so awesome. welcome back life.

I recently got a computer upgrade too (about a month ago, gosh!). 320MB 8800GTS, e6600cpu, DS4 mobo, 2GB corsair performance ram, 590MB (raid 0) sata II seagate drives. It's so awesome, but to fit my video card I was forced to rip out my 120mm HDD/intake fan, and to fit my new mobo I was forced to remove my 120mm extraction fan. so it's basically a giant black heater.

I can't think of anything else to write.

Recent list of movies i've watched and sorta enjoyed:

shooter: a good fun movie, but crap in so many ways. worth watching 8/10

living and dying: alright movie, but pretty mediocre. watch if you've recently aquired alot of spare time 6/10

anger management: fairly funny, gets better at the end. Right about the point the credits start. 6/10, for trying hard.

The interpreter: I watched because I thought the title was "the interceptor", I judged the book by the cover. 7/10 not bad.

hot fuzz: fucking funny. dont bother with a cam version tho. 9/10 for extreme laughter.

well that was good, reminded me of some sweet movies, and some crap ones.

Yay! Blog

I finally get to sit down and blog about nothing. School holidays for 2 weeks. Nothing exciting happening elsewhere either.

I've been thinking about making my blog for weeks, now i've finally got around to getting a picture of myself (damn photo, most recent photo I have.) I have nothing much to say, or too much to say.

kk, lets get this party started.

I hate msn live. It doesn't even give me enough options to put in specific music I enjoy listening to. The only fucking thing it can let me change is my favorite quote. I swear they might just as easily created a few options in there to satisfy the generation of msn. Such as "I can't spell, what's a quote?" "I'm 12, bedtimes are for sissies. AFK, gotta have a nap!" "give me your IP address, I am going to hack you". Yep, that's about it.

so for the record:

music: Metallica, Iron Maiden, disturbed, tool, def leppard, AC-DC and some other random crap. but music isn't really a valid pastime.

humor: I find almost everything funny, ‘cept death.

Interests: I also found this one funny. mainly because "I have no interests with my friends" "I dont even know what the fuck an activity party is, so how the fuck can I be interested in it?" "Business networking. Who isn't interested in T3 connections and free pr0n?" the next one is fun. "Dating" << What normal person enjoys this tedious piece of crap, and how could it be interesting?

I hate MSN and phones. In general I hate communication which can happen without me trying to establish it. Phones ringing, messenger beeping and shit. Auto-Accept is on so I don't have to be interested in a conversation, and so I can accept pr0n while i'm not at my keyboard.

Half the time i'm in a convo, and something gets said, which I have nothing to reply back with. Maybe i'm not a people person, but I hate talking to people. I was sitting near this cute girl at school, just minding my own business, waiting for class. People are walking around, talking about random shit that would bore the shit outta anyone. So this girl says to me "it's funny what people talk about isn't it?" I said "yep" and went along saying nothing. Felt like a dick, cause i'm kinda in the market for a girl, but I just dont to talk to people.

I hate music with lyrics that I can't understand. Plain and simple.

Salt and vinegar chips. I suppose I hate alot of random stuff.

OK, next topic in my blog is awesome.

Vegetarianism. Really started when I was young. I'm not sure how young, but i know it was < 10 I guess. eating meals was a bit of a pastime at such an age. My main disgust for meat came from flies. Not just any ordinary fly. flies that got swatted during dinner/lunch/breakfast. Ultimately the dead flies weren't near me, nor was any of their remains, but I had a sick feeling when eating meat. I suppose it's just the thought of sticking dead shit in my mouth that doesn't go down well with my brain. Brain doesn't want to stick something in mouth, brain usually wins. The first step to doing something is learning about it. first vegetarian I really met was bec ("yeah, that bec"). I suppose she was a vegetarian role model. My baby steps to becoming a vegetarian started in venturers(scouts have ranks, it's basically 1 rank above scout). I ruled out meat on my first hike. Although I still made foolish mistakes, such as eating cheese with rennet and gummy lollies with gelatine(cries tears inside) I was vegetarian! Kablamo. Just like that. Daddy said I wouldn't grow if I didn't eat meat. Science showed him! I'm 6'1" and still growing(ok, maybe that still growing part is a lie).

This is one hell of a blog! at least for me it is.
